The multi-purpose equine hub will provide a flexible venue for multiple functions, catering for complementary equine user groups in different zones.
A bold organic roof envelopes the spectator terraces. Elevated terraces provide clear spectator viewing of race track and central horse theatre.
The new facility will support the development of thoroughbred racing and training in the Lockyer Valley.
The redeveloped thoroughbred race track is designed with horse safety and welfare at the forefront and incorporates immersive visitor experiences through effective threshold design, connecting race goers to the whole race day experience.
Concept Plan Elements include:
Equine facilities - Stages 1 & 2
Thoroughbred racing and training track
Centre arena - Stages 1 & 2
Community Parkland - Stages 1 & 2
Entry piazza - Stages 1, 2 & 3
Multipurpose hospitality - Stages 1 & 2
The centre arena is envisioned to enable the Lockyer Valley to host international equine competition.
The proposed design includes a covered area of sufficient size, a below ground centre field with grass bank spectator seating. Vehicle and pedestrian access is provided via a tunnel under the thoroughbred racing and training tracks.
